How Often Should Construction Sites Be Inspected?
There is no one-size-fits-all rule
The frequency of construction site inspections should reflect the size, complexity and risk of the project. A small, low-risk project may need fewer formal inspections than a large site with multiple trades and high-risk activities.
Inspect when risk changes
Inspections should also be triggered by changes in the work. New trades arriving, high-risk work starting, an incident or a near miss, and changes to the site layout are all good reasons to carry out an additional inspection.
Document and close out findings
Whatever your inspection schedule, the key is to record findings, assign actions and verify that they have been completed. A missed action is often more significant than a missed inspection.
